What kind of a mother doesn’t want media attention for her teenage daughter for squashing CPAC’s keynote speaker?
It’s the one who lives in Canada, who isn’t giving her family or her daughter’s name, but who went to Vox to make sure that her daughter “Julia” — if that’s even her name” — gets her day in the sun. The family opposes President Trump. They protested in the Women’s March last month in Washington.
In an age when staying quiet about anything is foreign, the mother sought out the liberal site Vox to tell the story of how “Julia” took down Milo by finding the now infamous pedophilia YouTube recordings. In one part, Milo talked about how his relationships with older men helped him. He also revealed crude thoughts about pedophilia.
“I’m grateful for Father Michael,” Milo joked. “I wouldn’t give nearly such good head if it wasn’t for him.”
Vox didn’t bother to mention this in its ultra-explainer piece, but Milo held a press conference earlier in the week in New York to explain himself and to say that he is ardently opposed to child molestation but was using “gallows humor” during the YouTube interview. He apologized to any victims of child molestation he may have hurt with his words. He said when he was 17 he had a relationship with a man in his later 20s that he regards as extremely supportive. The molestation happened at 13. He said a portion of his book — which he says will be published this year as planned — will be donated to fighting it.
Just a week prior, Milo appeared on HBO’s Real Time With Bill Maher. He had no apology for SNL’s Leslie Jones — his remarks about her and how she looks like a man ultimately got him thrown off Twitter — and talked at length about fighting against the PC culture of our times.
It was only after Milo’s discussion surrounding pedophilia emerged that CPAC gave him the axe. CPAC was fine with all his other antics and surely appreciated the ball of fire his recent presence at UC Berkeley caused when he tried to speak there.
Vox portrayed the girl as a modern day hero.
The story says the teen was “moved” to dig up dirt on Yiannopoulos after she’d heard that he was going to speak at CPAC.
She defines herself as “very socially liberal,” but leans right on economics and foreign policy. Yiannopoulos, who has built his personal brand on anti-Muslim, anti-feminism, and general bigotry, exemplifies the place where she doesn’t believe the conservative movement should go.
The mother told Vox that she wanted her to get more attention after the Reagan Battalion blog — which broke the story — apparently didn’t credit her. After conversations with “Julia,” the blog tweeted out the video, which spiraled into CPAC canceling Milo followed by Simon & Shuster nixing his book deal and the tech editor resigning from Breitbart News.
“I see Milo as this embodiment of the awfulness you see over the past few years with the general tilt of millennial conservatism,” Julia told Vox. “It’s diverged from this traditional conservatism so much. You’ve seen it essentially become full of awfulness and all about attacking the left and not about actual principles. It has nothing to do with conservative ideology so much as it has with opposing the leftists, SJWs, and so on and so forth.”
Vox agreed to valiantly protect the teen. Here’s their rationale:
“I am keeping the teen’s name and social media accounts out of the story because of her and her parents’ request to protect her safety, and will only refer to her as ‘Julia.’ But we have confirmed her identity and her communications with the conservative blog that resurfaced the Yiannopoulos tape for a wide audience.”
The site said “Julia” provided them with screenshots to prove her conversations with Reagan Battalion.
This includes the grossest sentence of the entire Vox explainer:
“The teen’s mom couldn’t have been more proud of her kid, initially contacting Vox because she said her daughter’s story deserves more attention. She told me that the Canadian family is ‘more libertarian than anything,’ but they’re nonetheless ‘devastated to see that Orange Julius win.’ And in particular, they’re dismayed by reactionaries taking over the conservative movement and especially the alt-right, a movement that Yiannopoulos had become a leader for through his provocative, extreme work at Breitbart.”
When Milo was invited to speak at CPAC, Vox explained that “Julia” saw “an opening” and “won” by getting his speech canceled.
Vox went on into a terrible, boring, meandering rant about Milo and the lessons the conservative movement should be learning (while the White House, the Senate and the House are all Republican). In one section, they explain his sexuality, saying he said he “went gay” so he “didn’t have to deal with nutty broads.” (Actually, Vox, do your homework. Milo has said he sleeps with women, too.) They also wrote that he “exoticized” black men by including a “no whites” provision in his Grindr profile.
Somehow they wind back to “Julia” who says, “There’s not a politician in American politics today who would be worse than Donald Trump.”
The girl opined that you can’t just keep looking for enemies.
“Eventually, you have to stand up for something,” she says.
And hey, why not some attention in the process?
Just don’t use her real name.
