Oscar watching can be tense. Especially for Washington media types.

TV One’s Roland Martin came down hard on Washington media types Sunday night after they made fun of John Legend‘s Oscar performance. His targets were CNN’s Kate Bennett, who often writes and tweets about style and fashion, and CNN Contributor Doug Heye, a longtime former GOP operative on Capitol Hill.

Martin also took a stab at LifeZette founder Laura Ingraham, a conservative radio host, for something entirely different.

But let’s begin with Bennett, who challenged anyone to disagree with her that Legend sang a “garbage song.”

She probably wasn’t banking on Martin, a liberal TV host, calling her “stupid.”

Bennett reacted pretty well to his insult, saying, “Guys @rolandsmartin just called me stupid for not liking John Legend.”

Soon Heye jumped into the fray, but tried to practice civility even after Martin told him that he, too, didn’t know what he was talking about.

Martin cracked on LifeZette‘s Ingraham for being bored by the Oscar show, particularly the part when Jimmy Kimmel tweeted at President Trump. Martin made fun of Ingraham because the AP is suing LifeZette for $50K for unpaid fees after a check to the wire service reportedly bounced.
