Sure, Chuck, Have A Special Investigator

After Michael Flynn resigned as the White House National Security Advisor, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer came out and called for an independent investigator, and he should have it. National security should never be compromised by party politics.

That’s why Chuck Schumer should get his independent investigator – the moment that he demands one also investigate Hillary.

The problem is that the Democrats don’t care about national security. Fair review of the situation only matters to them when the opposition party is in power. But the security of the nation isn’t a topic that only applies to one party. And no one is above the law. When the investigation into Hillary was clearly corrupted, Chuck didn’t demand an independent investigation.

Chuck didn’t cry foul when Loretta Lynch met one on one with Bill Clinton, because this is another case of party politics – party politics impeding the national interests.

Now, the Democrats will never stand for an independent investigation into the Hillary scandal, but Trump shouldn’t just play their political game. He ran on being an outsider – he cannot become an insider. And an outsider would offer an independent investigator.

Party lines shouldn’t be a determining factor in the criminality of an action. In front of the Supreme Court building, there are two figures. The first is the law as mother, protecting those who abide by it. The second is the law as judge, punishing those who violate it. That’s the depiction of what the law is supposed to be, but now it seems that the politically connected are above being judged by the people.

Seeing all this political corruption, is it any surprise that Alexis de Tocqueville said, “Parties are an evil inherent in free governments.” After all, as each party plays to the others hand, they both expand executive power – they both put party over people. And that is exactly why Trump was elected President.

The establishment is angry about Trump’s approach, mocking his execution of policy points. But they’ve been doing nothing for years. That’s why the ultimate establishment figure was defeated by the ultimate outsider.

To the people, it’s not Flynn on trial, but Trump – his legacy, his presidency. Is he going to be swallowed by the swamp, or will he rise above and drain it?

If Trump wants to stand beside Reagan in the history books, he should call Schumer out. He should show that he’s an outsider. One that can stand with the people. The people who overwhelmingly want the law to be fair to all people.

They are sick of the status quo in Washington. They are sick of those with connections side stepping the law. Republican or Democrat, everyone wants to see the law fairly applied.

So, let’s have it. President Trump should set the precedent. He should show that he is the bigger man by bringing in a special investigator. But he should take it to Schumer too. He should show he is above politics, and ask Schumer to join him.

If Chuck Schumer doesn’t follow his lead and demand Hillary be investigated, Trump can expose Schumer as the partisan hack he is. Either way, America wins.
