If you’re like me, you have just one question whenever something big happens, whenever history is being made: What does award-winning singer and actress Bette Midler think about this?
The modern miracle of Twitter has taken all the guesswork out of it. Here’s Midler reacting to President Trump’s address to Congress last night:
Trump says that 4000 people were shot in Chicago in 2016. Chicago Tribune says 2016 ended with 762 homicides. https://t.co/f0AoJBDexV

This is an excellent point. You don’t need to be a mathematician to know that 762 is a lot less than 4,000! In addition to all her other talents, Midler is adept at critical thinking.
Of course, there’s one possible explanation for this discrepancy: Not all shootings are homicides. Sometimes people get shot but don’t die. It seems weird, but it happens.
Other than that, great work, Bette. Keep checkin’ those facts. #Resist!
