Paul Ryan said Jeff Sessions should recuse himself from investigating contacts between the Trump campaign and the Russian government only if he is the one under investigation.
The speaker of the House was questioned about reports that the attorney general had contact with the Russian ambassador during the campaign at his weekly press conference on Capitol Hill Thursday.
“I think he answered that question, uh, this morning,” Ryan said. “Which is, if he himself is the subject of the investigation, of course he would. But if he’s not, I don’t see any purpose of reason for doing this.”
