A feminist advocacy organization, has decided to declare that abortion is more popular President Donald Trump.

The group, UltraViolet, made the assertion on Monday in response to a report, by The New York Times, that Trump will cut off Planned Parenthood’s federal funding unless the group stops providing abortions.

“Time and time again, Donald Trump makes it clear to the public that his popularity matters more to him than virtually anything else,” UltraViolet co-founder Shaunna Thomas said in a press release sent to The Daily Caller.

“Here is some polling for him: do you know what polls better than Trump? Abortion access,” Thomas continued. “You know what also polls better than Donald Trump? Planned Parenthood. Defunding Planned Parenthood just to cater to the right-wing base of the Republican Party will strip millions of women of access to affordable health care, including abortion. We know Trump doesn’t like facts, but this is a fact and one he can’t deny.”

UltraViolet, which claims to speak for “all women, especially women of color and LGBTQ women,” also ran a 30-second television ad in Palm Beach, Florida over the weekend during several morning talk shows.

The ads cite polls claiming that 70 percent of Americans approve of abortion access and just 38 percent of Americans approve of Trump.

Trump was in Palm Beach at the time vacationing at the genteel Mar-a-Lago Club resort when the ad aired.

“As Trump vacations in Mar-A-Lago for the fourth time since he took the oath of office, we hope these ad drive that point home,” Thomas said.

Polling data not cited by UltraViolet contradicts the feminist group’s claim that some 70 percent of Americans support abortion access.

A 2016 Marist poll commissioned by the Knights of Columbus shows that despite the popular narrative that America is split on abortion, nearly eight in 10 Americans support some abortion restrictions.

While the percentage of Americans identifying as pro-choice or pro-life has hovered around 50 percent, the 2016 Marist poll shows that 81 percent of Americans — including two out of three pro-choice supporters — want some abortion restrictions. This support was regardless of gender, with 82 percent of women agreeing that abortion should be restricted to, at most, the first three months of pregnancy. Meanwhile, President Trump’s approval rating hovers barely over 50 percent as he reaches the halfway point of the first 100 days of his presidency.

According to Rasmussen Reports, 51 percent of likely voters approve of the job Trump has done now that he is 47 days into his presidency, while 49 percent disapprove. Thirty-seven percent of those voters strongly approve of how he is handling the office as 38 percent say they strongly disapprove.
