A recent LinkedIn report revealed that employers hired 1.4 percent more workers in February 2017 than they did in February 2016, CNBC confirmed Wednesday.

While the report indicated jobs growth slowed down in February from January, year-over-year hiring continued to improve. The president highlighted the hiring numbers in a Wednesday morning tweet.

Analysts cautioned that it’s unclear as to what the most recent numbers mean.  “The question is how much of this is politically motivated,”L inkedIn Executive Editor Dan Roth said on CNBC’s “Squawk Box.”

The news comes after Exxon Mobil’s announcement Monday of a new jobs program, aiming to invest $20 billion into hiring in the construction and manufacturing sectors.

Exxon Mobil officials said the program will create more than 45,000 construction jobs in the Gulf Coast region.

“This is exactly the kind of investment, economic development and job creation that will help put Americans back to work,” the president said in a statement right after the announcement.

The LinkedIn report also found that workers are leaving Chicago and New York City for Atlanta, Dallas and Houston. All five of those cities are losing people to Seattle, Portland and Denver, which continue to see hiring booms.

The report also found that San Francisco, Washington, D.C., and Houston have the largest skill gaps. San Francisco and D.C. are two of the most expensive big cities to live, and Houston is home to America’s oil and gas industry.

The movement of people from the rust-belt to the sun-belt continues to trend, something that has been happening since the 1960s.
