Police finally arrested a sex offender who was living as both a man and a woman Tuesday.

Lisa Hauxwell, formerly known as Craig John Hauxwell, faced a 14-year-prison sentence, which he was able to circumvent by living as both a man and woman, reports the Telegraph.

Police finally located Hauxwell after the BBC TV show “Crimewatch” featured a segment on him Monday. The segment showed pictures of Hauxwell living as both a man and a woman.

Shortly after the episode aired, police received more than twenty phone calls with tips concerning Hauxwell.

“This a fantastic result and due entirely to the calls we had following the appeal on Crimewatch,” said Detective Inspector Yvonne Dutson. “We understand Hauxwell had been living at the address in Newark for several months, without anyone knowing his true identity.”

Hauxwell had spent time in jail in November for charges stemming from indecent assaults and rapes, but went on the run shortly after.

The police had trouble locating Hauxwell because he committed the crimes as man, but received his sentence when he was living as a woman. Hauxwell committed the sexual assaults during 2001-2002.

“Hauxwell was convicted of two rapes and seven indecent assaults, which were truly horrendous crimes,” Dutson said.
