Progressive news site Jezebel announced that every female writer in the largely women-operated organization would strike during the national “day without women,” according to an article written Tuesday.

The site will still be “fully operational,” according the post, although the only employees scheduled to work during the protest Wednesday are the two men on staff — Bobby Finger and Rich Juzwiak.

“Our intent here is not to give men a platform or to allow them to fuck with our website, but to force them to think about the jobs they’re being asked to do and how they differ from their usual day-to-day work,” Editor in Chief Emma Carmichael wrote.

“We’re asking them to take that responsibility on without much of our guidance and advice, and if they stumble in that pursuit, we hope you notice.”

The article stressed that the goal is to make readers notice the difference.

“If the site feels different or off or even just “bad” tomorrow, that is very much the point. We wish them the best of luck,” Carmicheal wrote of the protest.

The nation underwent a “day without immigrants” in February, and several major restaurants and other businesses announced closures, but only a few actually closed. A closer look revealed that only four of the nearly 200 restaurants within blocks of the White House closed.
