One of the biggest news items of the NFL free agency period surfaced overnight, when a post from New England Patriots quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo’s Instagram account indicated he was leaving the team.

The only problem? There is no evidence of any move involving the quarterback.

According to the New York Post, a picture was published on Garoppolo’s page at around 4 a.m. Eastern Friday with the caption, “So grateful for my time in New England. Peace out Boston.”

The post has since been deleted, and an anonymous associate told NFL Network that the quarterback believes the account was hacked.

The 25-year-old Garoppolo has three years of NFL experience, serving primarily as a backup to longtime Patriots starting quarterback Tom Brady. However, Garoppolo’s stock rose after he started and played well during Brady’s four-game suspension to begin the 2016 season.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter has reported that the Patriots want to keep Garoppolo as insurance for the 39-year-old Brady, but that hasn’t stopped teams from trying to make a deal anyway. For now, though, Garoppolo remains with New England — regardless of what his Instagram page says.
