Four men attacked a good Samaritan after he offered to loan them some money to pay for their meal at a Brooklyn fast-food restaurant.
The 37-year-old victim approached the two men on March 1 with the offer upon realizing they were a few dollars short at the Texas Chicken and Burgers, the New York Post reported Wednesday.
The two men responded angrily saying, “I’ve got money, I’ve got money,” and “Mind your fucking business!” sources said.
The men began to attack him, punching him and grabbing his cane to beat him with it. Two more men rushed into the restaurant to join the attack.
“Upon attempting to defend himself, the individuals, along with two others who enter the location, begin to further attack the victim by punching him, kicking him in his head and body, and striking him with his cane,” the New York Police Department said in a statement.
Some customers tried to intervene, while others just stepped over the man and ordered their food, sources said.
The man was eventually taken to the hospital and treated for broken bones, cuts and bruises, according to the NYPD. He is now in stable condition.
The police are looking for the suspects and have asked people to send in tips regarding the assailants.
