Are you terrified of the evil dictator Donald Trump? Perhaps you console yourself with the thought that when things get really bad — which they haven’t yet, apparently, although it’s tough to tell from all the panicked shrieking — you can just pack up and move to Canada. Well, think again, because those canucks don’t want you up there either.
Nearly half of Canadians want to deport people who are illegally crossing into Canada from the United States, and a similar number disapprove of how Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is handling the influx, according to a Reuters/Ipsos opinion poll released on Monday.
A significant minority, four out of 10 respondents, said the border crossers could make Canada “less safe,” underlining the potential political risk for Trudeau’s Liberal government…
Trudeau faces no immediate threat, since the next elections are not until 2019.
Whew! That’s the important thing.
Those hoseheads are being silly anyway. News flash: People aren’t illegal! Since when does breaking the law make you a lawbreaker?
As our moral, ethical, and intellectual betters keep reminding us, there’s no difference between legal and illegal immigration. It doesn’t matter how you move to another country. It doesn’t matter whether you obey that country’s rules and laws. The only thing that matters is that you’re a victim, and therefore you can do no wrong.
Unless you’re white. Then you’re one of the bad guys, no matter where you live or what your legal status is. Then again, that rule of thumb doesn’t apply to rich white liberal celebrities. It all gets a bit confusing.
But never mind all that. The point is: Shut up, Canada! You’ll take our leftovers and like it.
