Rep. Jim Jordan responded to President Trump’s challenge to Freedom Caucus members during an interview on Fox News Thursday morning.

POTUS tweeted earlier that morning that “we must fight” the Freedom Caucus in 2018 if they don’t “get on the team,” yet the Ohio Republican, and one of the Freedom Caucus’ most vocal members, argued they’re still trying to “help the president.” (RELATED: Trump — ‘We Mist Fight’ Freedom Caucus, Dems In 2018)

“The Freedom Caucus is trying to change Washington,” he explained. “This bill keeps Washington the same, plain and simple.”

“We appreciate the president, we’re trying to help the president, but the fact is you’ve got to look at the legislation, and it doesn’t do what we told the voters we would do.”

“The American people understand that, and that’s why only 17 percent supports this legislation,” Jordan stated. “I’m not here to assign blame to anyone, what i’m here to do is focus on what we told the voters we’re going to do.”
