A White House spokesman responded Thursday to news of Devin Nunes’ recusal from the ongoing Russia probe with only eight words.
“This is an internal matter for the House.”
Both Speaker Paul Ryan and Adam Schiff, the ranking member on the House Intelligence Committee, called Nunes’ decision to remove himself from the investigation the correct choice.

“It is clear that this process would be a distraction for the House Intelligence Committee’s investigation into Russian interference in our election,” Ryan said in a statement. “Chairman Nunes has offered to step aside as the lead Republican on this probe, and I fully support this decision.”
