President Donald Trump called out North Korea Tuesday.

The North Korea problem has plagued world leaders for decades,  and the reclusive regime’s nuclear and ballistic missile threat is growing. Trump is committed to resolving the problem, preferably with China’s help, but he is prepared to go it alone if necessary.

“North Korea is looking for trouble,” Trump tweeted Tuesday morning, adding, “If China decides to help, that would be great. If not, we will solve the problem without them!”

Trump’s tweets reflect past comments to the Financial Times.

“China has great influence over North Korea. China will either decide to help us with North Korea, or they won’t,” the president told the Times recently, “If China is not going to solve North Korea, we will.”

North Korea has been especially provocative in recent weeks with multiple missile and rocket engine tests and promises of “big” events in the weeks to come.

Trump reportedly offered unspecified incentives to China if it helps rein in its hostile neighbor.

“I explained to the President of China that a trade deal with the U.S. will be far better for them if they solve the North Korean problem!” Trump tweeted Tuesday morning.

China has not yet offered any concrete commitments on the North Korea issue and has continued to call for calm. The U.S. appears to be taking a more aggressive approach, rerouting a U.S. Navy carrier strike group led by the USS Carl Vinson to the peninsula in a show of force. The U.S. also has numerous other strategic assets operating in the region. Trump said previously that America will use its “full range of military capabilities” to defend itself and its allies against the North Korean threat.
