On Friday’s episode of “The View,” co-host Sunny Hostin asked singer Jackie Evancho, 17, about the flak she received for performing at President Trump’s inauguration.

“It’s amazing what some people have to say over the internet,” responded Evancho. “I mean, people would say things like, ‘How can you betray your sister? How could you doing this?’ They’ve called me terrible words that I cannot say on television.”

Evancho appeared on the show with her transgender sibling, Juliet, and has been trying to get a meeting with President Trump to lobby on behalf of transgender rights.

“It was so frustrating because I wanted to make them understand my point of view of it, and you can’t really do that. When people have an opinion in their head, it’s so hard to change it.”
