A pregnant Baltimore woman was murdered Easter Sunday, as the city saw a rise in homicides over the holiday weekend.
Nine people were shot and five people died from their injuries, reports the Baltimore Sun.
Police said gunshots were reported around 3:30 Sunday afternoon but found no one at the scene when they arrived. They eventually found the gunshot victim,a pregnant woman, outside a hospital. She and her baby perished from the gunshot wounds, authorities announced.

“We’re used to dealing with death, but when you try to solve a case that’s near-and-dear to heart, it makes it particularly a little bit more,” BPD Det. Donny Moses said Saturday, according to Fox Baltimore. “He was out there with so-called friends who basically left him to die.”
Almost 80 people in Baltimore have died from gunshot wounds since the year started, according to analysis from the Baltimore Sun.
Chicago also had a violent Easter weekend with forty-five people shot and two dying from their injuries. Chicago has been struggling to keep their violence from getting worse.
Homicides have dropped almost 10 percent in 2017 when compared to 2016 and shootings have also gone down about 13 percent. (RELATED: Chicago Judge Gunned Down In Shooting)
