A Colombian woman swallowed at least $7,000 worth of rolled up $100 bills to hide the money from her husband, according to multiple Wednesday reports.
Doctors surgically extracted 57 rolls of money from the woman’s stomach, colon, and other intestines, reports the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC).

Doctors claim the woman ingested the cash during a fight with her husband. The money, which she said was gained by selling household electronics, was not meant for eating, but for a future holiday. The medical professionals were reportedly able to save $5,700 after extracting, cleaning, and drying out the bank notes. (RELATED: A Man Lost His Penis During Routine Surgery)
Juan Paulo Serrano, director of surgery at the University Hospital of Santander, said since the rolls of cash were not encased or packaged, the woman was probably not trying to illegal transport them somewhere, according to Reuters. The bills, instead, were likely treated as a meal and devoured out of an “act of desperation.”
