Rachel Maddow is convinced that the decision to send additional US troops to Afghanistan is just an elaborate ruse to distract the media from the Monday hearings about Michael Flynn and Russia.

Maddow, however, argued that the White House “floated this news” in order to distract from Senate hearings about former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn’s ties to Russia.

“[This] has the practical effect of shoving the headlines on this hearing today down toward the bottom of the page,” she opined.
