CNN reporter Brian Stelter blamed James Comey’s firing on unproven reports that he requested more resources for the investigation into US-Russia collusion.
Stelter asserted to CNN host Brooke Baldwin that “the simplest explanation is usually the accurate one.”
“I always come back, Brooke, to Occam’s razor,” Stelter explained before launching into a long, insufferable metaphor.
“If I’m late to your party and I say, ‘My car broke down, the tow truck didn’t show up, I got lost, and then I had to walk the rest of the way…’ no, it’s because I didn’t want to go.”
“So what’s the simple explanation here?” Baldwin asked, getting tired of the rant.
“I think what we’ve seen in reporting from the New York Times and in other outlets today, is that Comey went to the attorney general’s office last week, wanted more money towards this…maybe the president got angry about that,” Stelter answered.
The Department of Justice flat-out denied The New York Times report, calling it “totally false.”
