An anti-Israel group at the University of California, Irvine (UCI) tried to shut down a Wednesday event hosting Israeli veterans, as depicted in a video found Monday.

While the exchange between the pro and anti-Israel attendees started civilly, UCI’s Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) chapter soon began to shout chants like “Israel, Israel, you can’t hide/we charge you with genocide” for approximately five minutes, leaving the room after university police were contacted, Campus Reform reported.

“You people are colonizers or occupiers and you should not be allowed on this fucking campus,” said one of the protesters, who also shouted “fuck you” at the pro-Israel group before leaving the room.

UCI gave its SJP chapter a warning in 2016 for disrupting another pro-Israel event and required the group to host “an educational program by November 18, 2016.”

The national Students Supporting Israel (SSI) club insisted that SJP did not host the educational event, in a statement released Friday. It demanded that the chapter “be held accountable for their illegal, and disgusting bullying of our SSI students at Irvine” and receive a one-year suspension.

“[UCI’s] Office of Academic Integrity & Student Conduct is reviewing the incident and will make a recommendation on the appropriate course of action, if any,” the school’s interim media relations director Tom Vasich told The Daily Caller News Foundation. “There is no outcome at this time and the review process is ongoing.”

“UCI actively supports diverse views and civil discourse. … The safety of our students, faculty and staff is our utmost priority.”

TheDCNF reached out to Students for Justice in Palestine for comment, but received none in time for publication.
