House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi is convinced that President Donald Trump is being blackmailed by the Russians, asking during a CNN town hall, “what do the Russians have on [him]?”
Moderator Chris Cuomo asked Pelosi if she thought there were connections between Trump and Russia, and Pelosi said it’s “too much of a coincidence to be a coincidence.”
“There’s just something wrong with this picture. All at the same time as people are saying…and you have to be careful because [Trump’s alleged security leak to Russia] is its own incident…but it’s about Russia,” Pelosi continued.
“And everybody’s asking the question, ‘What do the Russians have on Donald Trump financially, politically, or personally that he’s always catering to them?” the California Democrat asserted.
Perhaps Republicans will “stop hiding the truth from the American people about the Russian connection,” she further claimed of the incident.
The Washington Post first reported Monday that Trump had let highly classified intelligence slip during a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov. National Security Advisor H.R. McMaster called the reports, given to the Post by anonymous sources, “false.”
During the town hall, Pelosi talked more about the alleged security leak, saying, “loose lips sink ships” and that the sharing of classified information with Russia is a “messy approach to intelligence.”
