Sen. Thom Tillis collapsed in Washington D.C. Wednesday while running a charity race.
The Republican Senator from North Carolina tweeted around 7:45 am Wednesday that he was planning on running the American Council of Life Insurance race for charity.

About an hour later, news outlets started reporting that Tillis had collapsed while running and was unconscious.
According to Debra Alfarone, a reporter at WUSA 9, Tillis was cared for by three men.

He apparently collapsed shortly after the second mile of the 5k, but was breathing when ambulances came to transport him around 9:30 am.

A spokesman for D.C. Fire and Medical Emergency Services confirmed to the Washington Post they had transported a man from the race but would not identify him by name.
UPDATE: Tillis tweeted a video from the hospital telling everyone he is in stable condition and did not require CPR as earlier reported.
