A 10-year-old girl who attended the Ariana Grande concert in Manchester Monday night knew right away the explosive attack was carried out by a terrorist, according to the girl’s mother.

Sara Beardall and her daughter attended the concert that ended in a suicide bomber killing 22 people and injuring countless others. They relayed their experiences on CNN Tuesday.

The most harrowing portion of their testimony was Beardall telling CNN’s Brooke Baldwin that her daughter asked immediately after they heard the explosion if it was a terror attack.

“We heard the blast and didn’t know what it was, but straight away she said, ‘Is it terrorists? Are they coming to get us? Are we gonna die?'” Beardall recalled.

“Your ten-year-old daughter said to you, ‘the terrorists have come’? She knew at ten?” Baldwin followed up.

“It seemed to be her first thought, and, you know, it’s devastating really…it just shows the awareness and the sad sad world that we live in,” Beardall responded. “I try to be honest with her but I must admit it was pretty shocking to hear.”
