“ALERT – OFFICE CREEPER.”
This is not the kind of note anyone wants in their inbox.
But for reporters working in a certain swath of downtown D.C., this is what some received Thursday.
In a word: YIKES!
“Per Golden Triangle, please be on the lookout for this office creeper. Please share the following lookout information with your staff. This suspect is connected to 7 recent daytime office thefts from buildings in the Golden Triangle are.”
The suspect is African American. His “pattern of behavior” is as follows:
— Enters the building through front, back, and parking garage doors
— Focused and moves quickly; not in the building for more than approximately 10 minutes
— Targets cell phones and small-sized woman’s handbags that are both visible and stored in desk drawers
— If stopped by lobby security, he sometimes states that he has an appointment or needs to drop something off to a tenant
— When stopped and questioned in hallways/office suites by building staff and tenants, he has: stated that he is lost and maybe in the wrong building; continued to steal items after being confronted; and ignored security and building staff.”
The warning offers sound advice if he’s seen in your building: Call 911.
