An officer assigned with assisting in the transportation of inmates was arrested Thursday in Stockton, Calif. for allegedly sexually assaulting multiple female prisoners at gunpoint.

Eric Scott Kindley, 49, is accused of sexually assaulting the women while they were in his custody, according to a Department of Justice press release published Friday. Kindley reportedly engaged in the lewd acts while working with Special Operations Group 6, a company that coordinates with local jails throughout the U.S. He was tasked with transferring individuals who have been arrested on out-of-state warrants.

Three separate female prisoners allege that Kindley forced them to engage in unspecified sexual activities during their respective travels. In each particular instance, the victim was allegedly handcuffed and taken to a secluded area in the perpetrator’s car. The probable cause affidavit says that Kindley would threaten each of the prisoners with his firearm, while also purporting that no one would believe them if they reported his misconduct. Kindley is also accused of boasting to these specific inmates that they weren’t the only victims, claiming he had sexually assaulted several other female prisoners before.

He is being detained in California, but may be transferred himself to a jail in Phoenix, Ariz., where the original legal complaint was filed. (RELATED: Louisiana Officer Convicted Of Manslaughter In 6-Year-Old Autistic Boy’s Death)

The Phoenix Division of the FBI is still investigating the case.
