Famed actor Al Pacino will star as legendary coach Penn State football coach Joe Paterno in an upcoming HBO film.
The plot of the untitled film, according to the Variety report, is, “After becoming the winningest coach in college football history, Joe Paterno is embroiled in Penn State’s Jerry Sandusky sexual abuse scandal, challenging his legacy and forcing him to face questions of institutional failure on behalf of the victims.”
Paterno was one of the most successful coaches in the history of college football before his shocking fall from grace following allegations his assistant coach Jerry Sandusky molested young boys.
Sandusky was convicted and is currently serving up to 60 years in prison. Paterno died in January 2012, shortly after the football program collapsed due to the horrifying scandal.
One Penn State fan refused to provide comment when asked about old wounds being opened for the school.
