Jerry Seinfeld Doesn’t ‘Understand The Big Deal’ About Kathy Griffin’s Trump Photo

Jerry Seinfeld doesn’t get why everyone is making a big fuss over the photo of Kathy Griffin holding a severed head made to look like Donald Trump.

Griffin posed for a photo holding a bloodied Trump mask last week in an attempt at a joke that fell flat on its face. The photo sparked outrage against the comedian and has led to her losing a number of jobs. Still, some don’t seem to have a problem with the implication of the photo.

“Yes, it was another bad joke. Every comedian tells bad jokes,” Seinfeld told People in an interview published Tuesday. “We all do it. That’s how we find the good jokes. So someone told a bad joke — so what, I don’t understand the big deal.”

Griffin apologized for the photo in a video she posted to Twitter early last week and eventually held a press conference on Friday to address the resulting backlash. (RELATED: Kathy Griffin Losing More Work Over Gruesome Beheaded Trump Photo)

“I don’t think I will have a career after this,” the comedian said on Friday.

“I’m a comic, I crossed the line…I went way too far,” she said in her original apology. “The image is too disturbing. I understand how it offends people. It wasn’t funny.”

Several celebrities have come to Griffin’s defense during the ongoing fallout, like Seinfeld. But many aren’t as willing to laugh it off like the comedian suggests.
