The talk show host and actress shut down any further speculation in an interview on The Hollywood Reporter’s “Awards Chatter” podcast released Monday. The hour-long interview focused mostly on Oprah’s leading role in the HBO movie “The Immortal Life Of Henrietta Lacks,” but she also spoke briefly about politics.

When asked if she believed she could defeat Donald Trump in 2020, Winfrey gave a response that might surprise some of her fans.

“I don’t know. I don’t know the answer to that,” she responded. “But I’ll never have to know the answer to that, because I will never run for public office,” she added. “That’s a pretty definitive thing.”

Rather than follow Trump into the political world, it sounds as if Oprah will stick to what she knows and might even start acting more than she has in the past.

“I love this acting thing,” she told the Hollywood Reporter. “I find that it opens me up and stimulates me in a way that absolutely nothing else does, because you get to not just read about a character–you actually get to explore the nature of another human being. So, that’s really fascinating.”
