Mika Brzezinski said Melania Trump has “the worst job in the country” after President Trump tweeted about her and fellow “Morning Joe” host Joe Scarborough.

“I know Melania [Trump]. I haven’t talked to her in months, but if my gut is right, I don’t think she’s going to put up with it much longer,” Brzezinski said in an interview Friday with InStyle magazine. (RELATED: Trump And White House Aide Rip ‘Morning Joe’ Hosts On Twitter)

“I know nothing,” she added. “That’s just my instinct and I go with my gut and my gut’s always right. I’m just telling you, Melania’s got the worst job in the country and I don’t think she wants do it a lot longer. I think she will do it for as long as she has to for her son, and that’s it.”

Brzezinski said that the president’s tweet was a sign of a “much bigger problem” for the country.

“This is a sign of a much bigger problem for our country than anything about me,” the MSNBC host explained when asked how she was handling the last 24 hours. “In our own way, we could reveal what he is, and I think it is a disturbing reality.”

“My daughters are adults, they’re 19 and 21,” she added. “I think that they’re forming their own opinions. I say the same thing [to them that] I say on the show: I think he’s got a real problem with women, and that this presidency is a setback. Women in the administration need to step up and tell him that they will not stand for the way he is treating women. I think that also applies to men in the administration.”

Earlier in the day, the MSNBC hosts responded to the president in a joint op-ed published in The Washington Post and in a segment on their morning show after Trump tweeted Thursday about how he refused to meet Brzezinski on New Year’s Eve because she was “bleeding badly from a face-lift.”
