Axios co-founder and Executive Editor Mike Allen had quite the slip-up on MSNBC “Morning Joe” early Monday.

Let’s just hope Jim VandeHei wasn’t watching.

During a segment on President Trump‘s Chief Strategist Steve Bannon pushing a tax hike for the rich, Allen mentioned his new colleague Jonathan Swan.

There are plausible reasons for the error.

The subconscious is so powerful.

It was 6:45 a.m.

“Politico’s Jonathan Swan…” Allen began.

He immediately corrected course and said, “Axios’ Jonathan Swan picked up on the fact that inside the White House Steve is pushing this idea of a tax hike for the rich so you can give a bigger tax cut to Trump voters.”

The Mirror sought comment from Allen about why this may have happened.

Allen was the chief political reporter for Politico from its launch in 2007 until the summer of 2016. He covered the White House and wrote the famed Politico Playbook newsletter.
