Jared Kushner reportedly “laughed” when asked by a Politico tipster to save the Paris agreement on climate change that President Donald Trump said he would withdraw from in early June.

Politico reported Kushner and his wife Ivanka Trump were spotted at a flywheel class in the DuPont Circle area of Washington, D.C. Tuesday. A tipster told Politico Kushner “laughed” when urged (maybe jokingly) to save the Paris agreement.

Kushner and his wife Ivanka Trump worked behind the scenes for months to convince the president to remain in the Paris agreement, which the Obama administration signed in 2016. Kushner favored renegotiating the Paris accord, but met resistance from some officials.

Kushner was backed by White House economic adviser Gary Kohn, Secretary of State Rick Perry and most multinational corporations.

Their effort was unsuccessful, however, and Trump announced he would withdraw from the agreement in early June.

Trump will withdraw from Paris in 2020, the earliest possible date to do so, but said he’d be open to renegotiating the deal. European leaders are expected to bring up the Paris accord at the G20 meeting this week.
