A 43-year-old middle school teacher in Trenton, New Jersey is facing criminal charges for adopting a 15-year-old male student and then allegedly having sex with him on nearly a daily basis.

The teacher, 43-year-old Rayna Culver, strenuously denies the allegations.

The Trentonian, a local newspaper, recently obtained the criminal complaint against Culver through a public records request.

Culver met the unidentified student in 2013 at Rivera Middle School where her job title was school climate and culture leader.

She and the student became “very close,” prosecutors say in the court documents obtained by The Trentonian. They “developed a relationship and he would talk to her often.”

Culver became the teen’s legal guardian after he had been booted from a relative’s house in December 2015, according to prosecutors.

The teen made the allegations last summer. In court documents, he said he “believed that the purpose of her taking him in was to eventually make sex a part of their relationship.”

Culver began touching the student inappropriately in June 2016, right around bedtime, according to court documents.

She provided oral sex and the teacher and student had sex a lot — “almost every day over several months,” the court documents say.

“After that first incident, they would engage in sex often, and it was to the point where he felt that if he told her to stop she would get mad and kick him out of the house,” the court documents explain.

The teen said he tried to tell her he didn’t want to have any more sex. However, court documents say, “Culver made it clear that she did not want it to stop.”

Phone conversations — apparently via text — show “in-depth conversations regarding sex, having sex and sexual acts,” according to prosecutors.

Investigators say they have also recovered unspecified “potential bio fluid.”

Culver’s attorney, Robin Lord, told The Trentonian that the charges against Culver are “completely fabricated and made up.”

“The state’s theory of the case is a completely fabricated recitation made up by a troubled, young man,” Lord told the newspaper.

Culver, who holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from West Chester University, reportedly made $96,515 during the most recent school year.

A Facebook post obtained by The Trentonian indicates that Culver was married in 2003.

Culver’s criminal trial is ongoing.

After an initial appearance last year, a judge ordered her to avoid contact with anyone under the age of 18.
