The G20 protests got a lighthearted touch Friday when a hipster in a newsboy cap was spotted casually sipping coffee next to some rioters.
NBC News’ Keir Simmons was on the ground at the protests in Hamburg, Germany, and took viewers to a scene where a black bloc protester was shooting projectiles at riot police.
Police responded in kind by shooting water cannons in the direction of the black bloc protester, but the real star of the show was the hipster standing nearby.
The hipster — clad in a newsboy hat, glasses, a green shirt, and drawstring backpack — was casually sipping a coffee with a hand sassily placed on his hip. Meanwhile, the black block protester shot off the rockets just to his left.
At one point the hipster even seemed to raise his hand to wave or celebrate. When the water cannons started shooting his way, he started slowly walking backward but seemed generally unbothered.
