Wanting To See Surveillance Footage Of Crimes Is Racist

Over the last few months, there have been a series of robberies and beatings on San Francisco’s Bay Area Rapid Transit system. And the people who run BART don’t think it’s anybody’s business. Because that’s racist.

Melissa Caen, KPIX:

In the last three months, there have been at least three robberies on BART involving groups of teenagers.

“I think people are genuinely concerned — they are fearful about the stories that have come out about the recent attacks, the assaults, the thefts,” said Debora Allen, who is a member of the BART Board of Directors…

So far, BART has refused to turn over surveillance video for any of these incidents…

“To release these videos would create a high level of racially insensitive commentary toward the district,” she was told. “And in addition it would create a racial bias in the riders against minorities on the trains.”

In other words: Showing the faces of criminals to the public, in an attempt to identify those criminals and bring them to justice, is racist.

Unless the criminals are white, I guess? Then it’s not “racially insensitive,” presumably?

When I see a black person on the news for committing a crime, it doesn’t make me think all black people are criminals. But when I’m told that I can’t even see a picture of a criminal because it’ll incite racism, it does make me think that all government employees are idiots.

Aren’t libs the ones who pushed for body cameras on cops? Aren’t they the ones who demand visual proof whenever there’s a crime that could be racially motivated? Aren’t they the ones who wanted more transparency? I guess transparency has its limits.

Good luck, BART riders. You’re on your own. Take your robberies and beatings, and shut up about it, or else you’re a bunch of racists.
