Dutch Politician Geert Wilders criticized the EU by calling it an “Institutionalized Maffia” in a tweet Monday.

Wilders, founder and leader of the Party of Freedom, tweeted his distaste for the EU, implying the Brussels bureaucracy restricts national sovereignty.

In particular, Wilders is an outspoken critic of the EU’s contribution to the Islamization of Europe.

“I rather would have not Koran at all as we in Holland at least have outlawed Mein Kampf as well,” he told Euronews in May. He added that restricting Muslim immigration into the country “might be in some part highly symbolic, still it would have an enormous effect to do so.”

Wilders, sometimes referred to as the “Dutch Trump,” voiced his support following the 2016 U.S. presidential election.

While Wilders represents the growing Eurosceptic and populist movement in Europe, he lost to Mark Rutte, current prime minister and leader of People’s Party for Freedom and Democracy in the Netherlands, during the March 15 general election.
