Katie Couric Hates Fake News (When She’s Not Spreading It)

Font Size:

We’ve already heard how bad things are in 2017 from fake news legend Dan Rather. How about some deep thoughts from a subsequent generation of fake news?

Spencer Dukoff, NYDN:

Katie Couric has (almost) seen it all.

Still, little has prepared the world-famous journalist for the phenomenon she says is currently “tearing [America] apart at the seams”: fake news.

“I remember I got sent a lot of stories from friends who were quite educated and were like, ‘Did you see this?’” Couric tells the Daily News. “And I would say, ‘Come on, you’re kidding, right? This is BS.’”

I know, right? There’s so much fake news out there, and so much deceptive propaganda.

For example, here’s an excerpt from Couric’s 2016 gun-control documentary Under the Gun. Watch how these members of the Virginia Citizens Defense League, a gun-rights group, respond to her question about background checks:

If we’re to believe what Couric presents here, she completely stumped these people with this question. That’s what she wants us to think. She put her name and her reputation behind it.

But that’s not what really happened at all. Courtesy of Stephen Gutowski at the Washington Free Beacon, here’s the audio of what really happened when Couric asked them that:

Katie Couric deceptively edited an interview with some ideological opponents who sat down with her because they assumed she would behave with honor and integrity. They were very wrong. She lied about them, and then she got away with it after making a feeble non-apology.

And now she’s scolding the rest of us about fake news?

This is why Americans trust the media less than ever. This is why Democrats keep losing. And if they don’t wise up, they’re going to keep losing. I mean, they lost to Donald Trump and they still haven’t learned anything from it.

Go over there and sit in the corner with Dan, Katie. You had your chance and you blew it.
