The biology professor at The Evergreen State College who was driven into hiding by student radicals for criticizing a racially segregated school event has now indicated that he will file a civil claim for $3.8 million in damages.
The professor, Bret Weinstein, filed the claim along with his wife, Evergreen State anthropology professor Heather Heying, according to Campus Reform.
For weeks this spring, Evergreen State’s taxpayer-funded campus in Olympia, Washington had been the site of a continuous stream of high-profile protests led largely by radical black students.
The protesters centered much of their fury on Weinstein because he criticized an organized “Day of Absence” event which “invited” every white student, professor and administrator to leave campus for a day.
The $3.8 million tort claim submitted by Weinstein and his wife is “for the hostile work environment that has been fostered at the college over the past year or so,” Weinstein’s attorney told Campus Reform.
Internal emails by Evergreen State employees appear to provide evidence of a hostile work environment.
An emerita faculty member emailed Weinstein expressing displeasure because he appeared on “Tucker Carlson Tonight” to discuss his criticisms of segregation and racial tension on campus.
“Bret, I don’t know what you were thinking. By describing yourself to Tucker as a ‘deeply progressive person’ you provided him ammunition for the claim that ‘the crazies are even going after progressives!!!” the exclamation point-laden email reads, in part.
Another dispatch Weinstein received is entitled “A Letter to the campus and Bret Weinstein from some Jews bent on the destruction of White Supremacy.” The missive demands the Evergreen State administration fire Weinstein for expressing his opinions.
“We want to talk about the ways that Weinstein is positioning himself as a Jew to invalidate the claims of racism being raised against him,” the letter says, according to Campus Reform.
“Bret Weinstein is wrong, he has put you in danger, and we will not allow him to hide behind our histories in order to dodge responsibility for his abhorrent and reprehensible words and actions.”
The letter also yells: “NO COPS ON CAMPUS!!! FIRE BRET WEINSTEIN!!! BLACK LIVES MATTER!!!”
Weinstein’s tort claim argues that Evergreen State “has permitted, cultivated, and perpetuated a racially hostile and retaliatory work environment.”
“Through a series of decisions made at the highest levels, including to officially support a day of racial segregation, the College has refused to protect its employees from repeated provocative and corrosive verbal and written hostility based on race, as well as threats of physical violence,” the claim says, according to Campus Reform.
Weinstein’s attorney also observes that Evergreen State administrators are flatly lying when they assert that demonstrations on campus “were nonviolent” and occurred “in isolated areas of the college.”
Video footage of one confrontation involving malcontent students and school president George Bridges shows student protests shows students going berserk, obscenely screaming about “racist white teachers” and “white-assed administrators.” There are the obligatory “black power” slogans. The video contains many memorable moments of the students’ interacting with their school administrators. They shout “fuck you” and “fuck the police” repeatedly while maintaining that “whiteness is the most violent fuckin’ system to ever breathe!”
The actions by student radicals and the multitude of school employees who abetted them were almost universally condemned.
The World Socialist Web Site, a hard-left news outlet which promotes “revolutionary opposition to the capitalist market system” published a scathing editorial denouncing the student protesters at Evergreen State as race-baiting loons who fail to address any actual issues affecting “working class people of all races and genders.” (RELATED: Now Even Socialists Are Bashing The Loony Race Protesters At Evergreen State)

Evergreen State administrators responded to the threat by asking students to evacuate and canceling classes for three days.
