Lewis and Clark College plans to host “wokeshops” to educate students on cultural appropriation and “self-care for social justice advocates,” according to a Tuesday report.
The Oregon college’s inclusion and multicultural engagement department planned multiple events for September, October and November during the fall semester, Campus Reform reported.
“Learn skills for speaking up against hurtful language, and for creating inclusive spaces in your residence halls, club meetings, classes, and beyond,” read a description for one of the workshops, entitled “The Power of Language.”
Another “wokeshop” aims to teach the difference between “cultural exchange” and “cultural appropriation.” Meanwhile, the “Unpacking ‘Action'” workshop will address ways students can spur “social change.”
“Do you feel like the more ‘woke’ you become, the more stressed you are?” one of the workshop descriptions asked. “This workshop explores the ways that social justice advocacy adds to our stress & how to more fully integrate ‘rest.'”
The Daily Caller News Foundation reached out to Lewis and Clark College, as well as the school’s inclusion and multicultural engagement department, but received no comment in time for press.
