Today is a pretty rough day to be a #woke Wonder Woman fan. First we learned that when the Alamo Drafthouse in Austin advertised a women-only showing of Wonder Woman, they broke local anti-discrimination laws. Whoops! But this latest news is even worse. This is going to make a lot of feminists even angrier, if that’s even possible.

Though they might be the most reviled figures among Hollywood’s liberal crowd, the Koch brothers have been a silent investor in Warner Bros.’ slate of movies for four years.
Sources say Charles G. Koch and David H. Koch — who are worth a combined $96.2 billion and wield enormous power in political circles as major backers of right-wing politicians — took a significant stake valued at tens of millions of dollars in RatPac-Dune Entertainment. Now-Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin brought the brothers in as investors as part of a $450 million deal struck in 2013…
Though Mnuchin is no longer involved with the slate financing facility, having recently put his stake into a blind trust in order to avoid a conflict of interest, the Koch brothers continue to be stakeholders in such films as Wonder Woman, Dunkirk and Steven Spielberg’s upcoming Ready Player One.
That’s right, girls: If you supported feminism and smashed the patriarchy by going to see Wonder Woman, you put your money directly into the pockets of the Koch Brothers.

This is going to be a tough one for some people to process. I’m talking about the people who want Wonder Woman to be nominated for a Best Picture Oscar, because it stars a woman and was directed by a woman and Hillary Clinton lost the election and they need this please just let them have this. (Some misogynists don’t think it deserves a nomination, but that’s only because they hate women.) After today, pushing for that award means willingly submitting themselves to the slimy, slithering tentacles of the Kochtopus.
