An Indiana Walmart prominently placed a gun display in the store’s “back to school” section, sparking outrage amongst shoppers, who quickly shared photos on social media.

A sign entitled “Own The School Year Like A Hero” was placed above the gun display of a Walmart in Evansville, Ind., causing concerns amongst shoppers who thought that the sign seemed to market guns as a necessary back to school items. Walmart identified that the display was a mistake, Fox59 reported Thursday.

“What’s seen in this photograph would never be acceptable in our stores,” Walmart spokesman Charles Crowson told The Washington Post. “We regret this situation and are looking into how it could have happened.”

Despite Walmart’s admission that the display was a mistake, Twitter users lambasted the store for its carelessness.

Walmart quickly removed the display.
