An 8-year-old girl was killed and several were injured Monday when a man crashed his car into a pizza restaurant outside Paris.

The 39-year-old driver was detained shortly after the incident in the town of Sept-Sorts, The Associated Press reports. Police called it a “deliberate” attack that “apparently has no connection with a terrorist act,” according to The Telegraph.

The act comes less than a week after six French soldiers were injured, two of them seriously, in a hit and run Wednesday in the Paris suburb of Levallois-Perret. A 37-year-old Algerian man identified as Hamou Benlatreche was detained hours after the attack. (RELATED: France Reports 60 Percent Increase In Radicalization In Two Years)
