On Tuesday, the Tennessee Volunteers football team were having practice just like they do everyday, except this day was a little brighter than the rest.

The team began to line up for circle of life drills just like they do in every practice. Eli Wolf, a tight end sophomore for the team, lined up like he always does as he faced his older brother Ethan for the drill. Then, after they went through one drill, head coach Butch Jones stepped up to Eli and presented him with a piece of paper.

Butch Jones barely finished his sentence, when the team swarmed Eli with cheers, jumping, and chanting his name. Eli told the Knoxville News Sentinel, “I was thinking about putting [Ethan] on his butt. The last thing I was thinking about was getting on scholarship. For the first five periods of practice, I was still wandering around. I was up in the stars. It was a surreal moment.”

Eli was a walk-on in 2015 according to ESPN.
