The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are preparing for their season opener against the Tennessee Vols on September 4. Head Coach Paul Johnson has just done something to get the team motivated for the upcoming season.

Johnson awarded four walk-ons with scholarships. The players who have been awarded are junior quarterback Chase Martenson, junior defensive back Zach Matthews, junior defensive back Josh Selembo, and senior running back Brady Swilling.

Johnson gives scholarships every year to walk-ons he feels have earned them. As the coach read out their names the room went crazy for each player receiving the award. This met the goal of 85 scholarships for the year, according to ESPN.

Jalen Johnson, a defensive back for the Yellow Jackets, joked on Twitter with Selembo, telling him he would be paying for Uber every time now.

Coach Johnson spoke about their dedication to the team and how hard they worked and the same work ethic will help future players earn a scholarship.
