Democratic Sen. Dick Blumenthal refused to give a timeline for when the investigation into Russian election interference would come to an end during a CNN “New Day” interview Thursday.

Co-host Alisyn Camerota asked Blumenthal where Democrats were on the investigation into collusion and meddling, and when they think they will wrap it up.

“My hope is that it will be done sooner rather than later,” Blumenthal responded. “But we want to make sure that there is no kind of inconsistency or contradiction with the special counsel campaign or investigation. And that’s why this de-conflicting is important.”

Blumenthal then pivoted away from the timeframe question and repeated things that he had already mentioned.

“But here’s the important point, that the special counsel is investigating potential collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russians in their interference in our last election and potential obstruction of justice by the White House, specifically the president. And that investigation has to go forward unimpeded without interference,” the senator said.

Special counsel Robert Mueller still has released no official comment regarding when the investigation will be presenting any findings from its Russia probe.
