A University of Southern California student’s decomposing body was found Wednesday after a maintenance employee smelled something foul.

Jacob Kelley, a first-year medical physiology master’s student, was found shoeless but clothed on his dorm room bed, reported New York Post. An autopsy will be conducted to uncover the cause of death.

David Alvarez, a police detective, suggested Kelley may have died a week before he was found.

USC made headlines in July for the partying and drug abuse of Dr. Carmen A. Puliafito, the school’s former medical dean. The doctor had secured millions of dollars in donations for the college. (RELATED: USC Starts Procedure To Fire Former Medical Dean Amid Drug Abuse Scandal)

The Daily Caller News Foundation reached out to USC for comment, but received none in time for press.
