White nationalist Richard Spencer sent out a call to arms for white people everywhere to boycott college football and the NFL.

“All White people should boycott the NFL and College Football. Spend time with the fam instead. Play a sport; don’t watch thugs,” Spencer tweeted Friday.

What an incredibly weird day. Earlier, I wrote that those who tell people not to watch sports should just go away and disappear. Fast forward a few hours, and I’m now literally standing on the opposite side of the issue as a white nationalist.

I think that’s a great sign it’s going to be a great day. It’s never a bad day when you wake up, take a stance and find out a couple hours later the racists disagree with you. Point for the good guys.

I never envisioned I would be arguing with racists when I made my point. I figured I’d be arguing with hardo hipsters. I thought it’d be more of the Starbucks crowd, and a little less of the “maybe hitler was just misunderstood” crowd.

The “thugs” line is so over-the-top, I almost spit my drink out. It’s like Spencer is trying to parody a racist in the laziest way possible, but in reality, he’s being serious. Then he throws in the part about the family, and it’s almost too much to handle.

I hate racists, but I love family men. It’s a moral dilemma for the ages.

Perhaps Spencer should attend a couple tailgates. Maybe he could find a lady, although for him she likely won’t be overly attractive (beggars can’t be choosers) and she can take some of that weird edge off of him. Other than that, I’m not really sure what suggestions I have for a man boycotting football because of “thugs.”

Spencer can stick to boycotts and racist ways. As for me, I’ll stick to watching my Wisconsin Badgers and few cold beers over the weekend.
