Hip-Hop performer Cardi B did not hesitate to bring politics into entertainment (or lack thereof) at the VMAs last night.

Before introducing Demi Lovato, Cardi B held the microphone a little longer to shout out former 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick.

She shouted:

“As long as you kneeling for us, we gon’ be standing with you baby. That’s right I said it!”

Sorry for laughing. At first I really did think this was a joke.

Cardi B is the captain aboard the hot mess express. Earlier this summer, she claimed her Instagram and Twitter accounts were hacked after she went on a tweet rampage attacking stars like Nicki Minaj and Selena Gomez.

Cardi later apologized for being hacked with a totally sincere and completely remorseful statement:

Sooo fucking annoyed fucking WEIRDOS -___-

This kind of stuff is pretty routine for Cardi B. She rose to fame after appearing on VH1’s “Love and Hip Hop,” which basically requires that every person qualifies as emotionally unstable before going on. Cardi B proved her qualification by throwing her shoe at a cast mate during an interview:

Regular wardrobe malfunctions and explosive commentary come with the Cardi B territory. So I kind of expected her appearance at the VMAs to be a total disaster. And she did not disappoint. It started with her standing in solidarity with Colin Kaepernick and ended with a wardrobe malfunction. The internet went nuts.

It’s not a Cardi B appearance unless you’re left wondering what just happened.

No wonder she stands with Colin Kaepernick. Let’s hear it for mediocre talent getting attention for outlandish behavior.
