MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough ripped the University of California, Berkeley’s response to the violence that broke out Sunday, when members of Antifa attacked peaceful protesters who were marching against Marxism.

“This is an ongoing problem in Berkeley especially, where members of the far-left are using violence to shut down free speech and there, to shut down demonstrators,” Scarborough said on “Morning Joe” Monday. “They’re fascists in their behavior. There is nothing anti-fascist about that.”

Scarborough called Antifa out for hiding behind anonymity and said they were cowards for wearing masks. “Take your mask off. Take your mask off because you have a history of beating people and hiding behind that mask,” he said.

Scarborough also addressed the issue of free speech, and defended conservative author Ann Coulter.

“I’ll just say it I find her speech deplorable, Ann Coulter I think she had to have a speech canceled. But you know what, she had a right to give a speech,” he said.

He then turned his outrage to Berkeley’s administration and asked who was responsible for letting these protests spiral out of control.

“The question is, and I don’t know, and this is an innocent question, who is running Berkeley? And why can’t they protect free speech? What’s your problem in Berkeley?! Why can’t you protect free speech? If you need me to help you out, we can get some people that will actually protect the first amendment, he said. “You know where we are, call us. We’ll help you. But this sort of thuggery going on in your streets, on your college campuses is an absolute disgrace.”
