National Review Editor Rich Lowry said radical left wing group Antifa is on the “same moral plane” as neo-Nazis because they both defer to violence and chaos.

“Charlottesville created this effect where no one could say anything against Antifa because Antifa was opposing the Nazis. Well The fact is Antifa and the Nazis are on the same moral plane,” Lowry said during a Fox News interview on “America’s Newsroom” Tuesday. “They both are violent. They both like these street clashes. It’s not like Antifa shows up and becomes violent. This is a movement devoted to violence. It’s devoted to the proposition you should shut down views you disagree with.”

Lowry said despite being at a crossroads, liberals have been slow to condemn Antifa and have instead hailed the group as heroes.

“This is a moral challenge for liberalism. Can all respectable liberals full throatily denounce this movement? And so far the answer unfortunately is no. You have respectable liberal journalists comparing them to G.I.’s who stormed Normandy and fought the Nazis,” he said.

Lowry added Antifa has acted like a terrorist organization, damaging property and beating up people whom they disagree with.

“Just google Antifa and you’ll see event after event after event where they act like this,” he said. “They’re terroristic in their tactics. Again they show up, they break things, they burn things and they beat people up. And again in Berkeley they weren’t beating up Nazis. They were beating up supporters of the duly elected President of the United States.”

“The police by the way totally fell down in Berkeley. That when these thugs showed up in force they just disappeared,” Lowry concluded.
